Government Relations
The Government Relations Office (GRO) is housed within the External Relations department. We support the university‘s commitment to cultivating strong, long-term relationships with all levels of government in order to advance the university’s mission and mandate.
What we do:
- Monitor government activities at federal, provincial, regional and municipal levels.
- Communicate government activities (e.g. budgets, policies, regulations and bills) affecting the university community.
- Advocate the university’s position and perspective with government officials.
- Maintain a directory of key government contacts.
- Assist with inviting dignitaries to campus.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal lobbying regulations.
- Facilitate connections between university personnel and government officials on specific issues.
How can faculty and staff help us:
- Provide the GRO with a copy of all major proposals or submissions to government to ensure that these are recorded for tracking and reporting purposes.
- Notify us of any lobbying activity.
- Notify us of any meetings, correspondence, events and other activities involving government politicians, staff and bureaucrats.
Please contact us and let us know how we can be of assistance.
